COMPOSITION

Each mL contains:
● Nepafenac – 0.3% w/v
● Benzalkonium Chloride – NIL (BKC-Free)
● Sterile Aqueous Vehicle – q.s.

DESCRIPTION

NAVIRES-OD™ is a clear to slightly yellow-orange sterile ophthalmic suspension free from benzalkonium chloride (BKC), making it gentle for long-term ocular use.

 

DOSAGE

As directed by the physician.
Typical dosage: One drop once daily beginning 1 day before cataract surgery, continued on the day of surgery, and for the first 14 days postoperatively.

Indications
● Prevention and treatment of post-operative pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery.
● Suitable for sensitive eyes due to its BKC-free formulation.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacodynamics
Nepafenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that penetrates the cornea and is converted into Amfenac, a potent COX inhibitor. It:
● Inhibits prostaglandin production
● Reduces ocular inflammation
● Alleviates pain following cataract surgery

 

Pharmacokinetics

● Rapidly converted into Amfenac in ocular tissues
● Maximum concentrations reached within 0.5–2 hours
● Eliminated through aqueous humor with a half-life of approximately 0.5 hours
● Very low systemic exposure

CONTRAINDICATIONS

WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS

● Avoid use in patients with known hypersensitivity to NSAIDs
● Prolonged use may delay healing
● Should not be used while wearing contact lenses
● Use with caution in patients with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, or complicated ocular
surgeries

 

USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION

● Should be avoided in pregnant women unless clearly necessary
● Use during lactation only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk

 

DRUG INTERACTIONS

● Use caution with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids
● Allow at least 5 minutes between different ophthalmic products

 

SIDE EFFECTS

Possible adverse effects include:
● Foreign body sensation
● Eye pain or irritation
● Blurred vision
● Increased intraocular pressure
● Corneal edema or inflammation (rare)

 

STORAGE

● Store in a well-ventilated area below 25°C
● Protect from light
● Keep out of reach of children
● Use within 30 days after opening

NAVIRES-OD™ is available in a sterile 5 ml pack in an LDPE vial with outer carton and leaflet.
