• Indications: Treatment of pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery.
For 0.1% formulation:
• 1 drop in the affected eye three times daily, starting 1 day before surgery, on the day of surgery, and for 14 days postoperatively.
For 0.3% formulation (once daily):
• 1 drop once daily, starting 1 day before surgery, on the day of surgery, and for 14 days
postoperatively.
• Nepafenac is a prodrug of amfenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, reducing inflammation and pain.
• Eye pain
• Blurred vision
• Foreign body sensation
• Increased intraocular pressure (rare)
• Headache
• Use with caution in patients with bleeding tendencies or on anticoagulants.
• May slow corneal healing—caution in patients with corneal defects or using topical steroids.
• Remove contact lenses before use; reinsert after 15 minutes.
• Known hypersensitivity to nepafenac or any NSAIDs.
• Store at 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F).
• Shake well before use (suspension).
• Supplied in sterile 5 mL dropper bottles (0.1%)
